If food and eating are taking up more of your life than you want, asking for support is a reasonable next step. You do not need to look a particular way, have a certain body size or wait until the problem feels “serious enough” to speak with a health professional.
Enhanced Physio takes eating-disorder dietetics enquiries at Runcorn and Southport. Call to arrange a suitable dietitian appointment and explain any existing care-team involvement. This is nutrition support within appropriate care, not a promise that one appointment or a meal plan will resolve an eating disorder.
Why the wider care team matters
Eating disorders can affect physical and mental health at any body size. Care may involve a GP, mental health professional and dietitian working together. A doctor can assess medical concerns and help organise the appropriate level of care. Dietitians Australia explains the role of coordinated support.
If you already have a GP, therapist or treatment team, tell reception. Ask how the dietitian would coordinate with them, with your consent. If you do not have a team, speaking with your GP is a useful starting point alongside asking about a dietetics appointment.
You can start with what feels hardest
You might be unsure what to say when calling. It is enough to ask for dietetics support with eating concerns and request a private conversation about the next step. You do not need to describe everything to reception.
Before the appointment, write down the questions you want answered and any preferences about discussing food, measurements or weight. Bring relevant referrals and information about current treatment if you have them. Ask whether a support person can attend if that would help you participate.
Clarify the appointment before you commit
- Does this practitioner work with my particular concern and age group?
- How would care be coordinated with my GP or therapist?
- What does the first appointment involve?
- How are consent, privacy and communication preferences handled?
- What is the fee, and can any referral or rebate apply?
Do not assume that a particular Medicare arrangement or funding approval applies until eligibility and the practitioner have been checked. Dietetics is separate from our free initial physiotherapy offer.
